01Overview

Taipei Tutors is a platform that lets independent tutors in Taiwan create and publish a professional profile website. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how it is stored, and the choices you have.

We have deliberately kept the platform simple. There are no visitor accounts, no advertising, no third-party analytics and no payment processing in this version.

02Information we collect

• Tutor account information: the email address and password you use to sign in. Passwords are handled and securely hashed by our authentication provider; we never store them in plain text.
• Tutor profile information: the details you choose to enter, such as your name, professional title, introduction, photo, location, subjects, student age groups, languages, experience, qualifications, teaching style, pricing, availability, lesson formats, contact email, phone number, LINE ID, introduction video, audio introduction, testimonials and any additional links you add (such as a personal website or YouTube channel).
• Usage information: basic, first-party events we record in our own database, such as when an account is created, when a profile is started, submitted, approved or published, and when a published profile is viewed. This helps us understand whether the platform is working and is not used for advertising.

03Public profile information

A published tutor profile is public and can be viewed by anyone who has the link. Only the information a tutor has chosen to include is displayed, and sections with no information are simply omitted.

Phone numbers are private by default. A tutor's phone number is shown on their public profile only when the tutor has switched on the “Display phone number publicly” setting.

04Visitor information

Visitors do not need an account to read a tutor profile or to make contact. When a public tutor profile is viewed, we record a simple first-party event so we can measure interest in the platform. We do not use this to identify individual visitors.

05How we use information

• To create and secure your account, and to sign you in.
• To build, preview, review and publish your tutor profile.
• To display your published profile to students, parents and other visitors.
• To operate, maintain and improve the platform and to prevent misuse.
• To reply to you when you contact us.

06Contact information and how visitors reach tutors

Contacting a tutor does not involve any messaging service run by us. The “Contact” button on a profile opens the visitor's own email application addressed to the tutor's stored contact email, with a pre-filled subject line. The email is sent directly from the visitor to the tutor; we do not route, store or read it.

Tutors may also choose to show a LINE ID, and opt in to showing a phone number. Any information a visitor sends to a tutor through those channels is handled directly between them.

07Third-party services we use

We use Supabase as our infrastructure provider. Supabase provides the authentication that lets tutors sign in, the database that stores account and profile information, the file storage that holds uploaded profile photos and audio introductions, and the email used for account verification and password reset messages.

We do not use any other third-party service for the operation of the platform. In particular, this version does not use third-party analytics, advertising networks, social login providers or payment processors.

08Cookies

We use a single functional cookie: a session cookie set by our authentication provider so that signed-in tutors stay signed in. Visitors who are not signed in do not have any cookies set by us. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

09Data storage

Account, profile and usage information is stored in our Supabase project, and uploaded photos and audio are stored in Supabase storage. Access to tutor profiles is governed by database access rules so that only published profiles are publicly readable and tutors can only edit their own information.

10Data retention

We keep tutor account and profile information for as long as the account is active. If a tutor deletes their account, or asks us to remove their profile, we will delete the associated profile information and uploaded files, except where we are required to retain something by law.

Basic usage events are retained for as long as they are useful for operating and understanding the platform.

11Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect information, including encryption of data in transit, secure password hashing and access rules that restrict who can read or change profile data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12Your rights

You can review and update most of your information at any time from your dashboard, and you can change your profile's visibility by unpublishing it. If you would like to access, correct or delete your information, or ask a question about your data, please contact us using the details below.

13Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide a clear notice on the site before the changes take effect.
